How to Rollback a Plugin In WP Umbrella

The Rollback feature for plugins in WP Umbrella is designed to give you an option to quickly rollback a plugin in your WordPress installation(s) without the hassle of removing the plugin and installing an older version.

Prerequisites

  • WP Umbrella 2.13.2 or higher.
  • A complete backup of your WordPress databases (always a good idea).

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to your WP Umbrella account and open the WordPress Management page for the project/website in question.

  1. Click on the Rollback next to the plugin that you would like to roll back.
  2. From the new pop-up window, you will be able to choose the version to which you would like the plugin rolled back, as well as the changelog available in the right section to provide more information about the version changes. Do not forget to tick "Activate the plugin after rollback" and "Clear cache after rollback" if you would like to activate the plugin; otherwise, it will stay deactivated.

  1. That's it! Your plugin will be rolled back to the chosen version, and you can monitor the process or check the notifications bar at the top to confirm when it was completed.

Keep in mind that certain plugins might not allow a rollback as a native feature, so if the Rollback feature doesn't appear for the plugin in question, unfortunately, a 1-click rollback wouldn't be possible.

FAQ

Am I able to rollback a theme or WordPress core?

At this moment, the rollback feature is available only for plugins. WordPress core and theme rollback are not available for the moment.

I don't see an option to rollback certain plugins, what should I do?

If a certain plugin doesn't show the rollback option, it means that the plugin doesn't support the rollback, and rollback points are not available. In that case, you can try manually installing the older version you need, or reaching the plugin support team for instructions on how to rollback to the previous version.

The rollback failed, is there any action required?

If a rollback action fails, please get in touch with our Support team for more details and provide us with the plugin name, version, as well as the site in question.

How many versions can I rollback a plugin?

This depends on the plugin in question, but usually, all versions within a major release are available.
